Scripture: Matthew 3:1-17
FAMILY DISCUSSION
To Obey or Disobey
Print out the following worksheet:
Look at each of the pictures on your worksheet. What do you think these children are
being told to do? On the left-hand side of the paper draw a picture of what happens when you obey each of these directions. On the right-hand side of the paper draw a picture of what happens when you disobey each of these directions.
Every day we have to make the choice to obey our parents, teachers, coaches and God. Did you know that Jesus had to make the choice to obey or disobey God? I wonder what choices he made??
GOD’S EPIC STORY
Our Kid City Lesson this week is presented by Kids on the Move.
After Story Wonderings...
Jesus turned water into wine. Did He even consider making rocks into bread?
Did the devil just speak to Jesus, or could Jesus see him too?
How long did Jesus think about the choices He had to make?
EXPERIENCING THE STORY
God’s The ONE I Obey!
All of us are going to face temptation to do the wrong thing. Just because we are tempted does not mean we have to make the choice to sin. We can fight it and do the right thing. Below is a chant. Repeat it several times and then come up with motions or dance moves to go with it.
“Go away! Do not stay. God’s the One that I obey.”
When you face temptation you can say this chant to help you decide to do right. Always chose to obey God!
MEMORIZING THE STORY
Memory Verse: “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9
